Peak’s Espresso Amber Ale

Organic Espresso Amber Ale
Peak Organic Brewing Company

Pours a nice clear amber with a finger of whitish head.

Coffee, nuts, some maltiness, mild hops. Smells a lot like an iced coffee.

Coffee, molasses, mild chocolate notes. Tastes very similar to watery iced coffee.

Very thin.

About average. I can see this as being a nice change of pace on a warm summer evening from run of the mill summer beers.

I’m just not impressed. It’s not bad, but there’s something missing here. I think the best way to describe this beer is non-committal. It’s a coffee beer, but there’s a thin amount. It’s an amber, but the hops aren’t prominent. In general I found the flavors thin and watery. What was there was delicious, but I would suggest beefing up the flavor a bit.

One Response to Peak’s Espresso Amber Ale

  1. We reviewed Espresso Amber Ale recently and found it to be enjoyable. While not on our top 10 list, it seems we liked it more than you did. At least there are more beers out there to sample!
